This year I tried to give away homemade gifts for all those that I cherish. Luke and my dad were the only two people I could not figure out what to make gifts for. My mom is getting a beautiful set of hand crocheted and handspun angora hand warmers. And I made bath salts and bath bombs for the remainder of those on my list. I spent about two days overall making a total of 50 bath bombs and 10 jars of bath salts.
I was even able to sell about 35 bath bombs which help paid for a portion of the supplies needed to create these lovely little gifts. I thought I would share my recipes with you so you too could enjoy the experience of giving the gift of relaxation. There is something special about a handcrafted gift.
Oat and Honey Bath Bomb Recipe:
2 Cups Baking soda
1 Cup Citric Acid
1/2 cup crushed oats
1/4 cup Raw Honey (Homestead fresh!)
1/4 cup powdered milk
2 Tbs melted coconut oil
This recipe takes quite a while to set due to the number of liquid ingredients. So give it a day or two before packaging. Once the bomb has set up it is a wonderful and relaxing experience to enjoy in the tub!
Easy Bath Bombs:
2 Cups Baking Soda
1 Cup Citric Acid
10-20 drops of essential oil of choice ( I use Doterra EO)
3 tablespoons dried Flower petals or citrus zest (optional)
Pure Witch Hazel (gently mist over mixture to form balls)
I made about ten different scented bath bombs for one of the orders. I tried to make the scents fun and seasonal; one was called Santa’s cookies and smelled like a lemon frosted sugar cookie, another was called Reindeer recovery and was similar to that of icy hot for sore muscles. I had a very fun time creating all of these spa treats and hope you will as well! Feel free to share your experience with me about how your gifts were received!
